IAPT services to benefit from SilverCloud iCBT, PCMIS

The integration enables the secure transfer of IAPT services’ patient data between the two systems reducing the amount of time spent on manual administration and reducing the risk of human error.

IAPT services are mandated to collect data and information to monitor the progress of their patients and the IAPT service. Previously IAPT care pathway data, including clinical outcome measures and patient contact notes, were collected in the SilverCloud Platform and then entered manually into the PCMIS patient portal, creating manual duplication and the potential for errors. Now all patient data received from SilverCloud is available for the clinician to import automatically into PCMIS. This includes the IAPT minimum dataset (MDS) and clinical notes, which are automatically imported with an import audit stamp.

PCMIS Director Byron George said:

The integration of PCMIS Patient Management System and SilverCloud Health is a great step forward in terms of providing greater patient choice, improving patient engagement and delivering integrated efficient mental healthcare, uniquely joining patient focussed healthcare with proven evidence based clinical tools.

The integration will help IAPT services to reduce time-consuming administration processes, allowing Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) to concentrate on providing effective clinical care.

Clare Grey, Senior Clinician at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust’s Psychological Wellbeing Service (IAPT) said:

We are extremely pleased to start using SilverCloud. Its integration with PCMIS represents a major time saving initiative for staff allowing them to concentrate on clinical work and less on important but time consuming administration. PCMIS and SilverCloud have been very responsive and whilst we are still in our early days we have been very impressed by SilverCloud made all the more impressive by its integration with PCMIS.

Ken Cahill, CEO at SilverCloud Health, said:

In addition to the already significant benefits that SilverCloud programmes are realising for IAPT services, the integration will help IAPT services to optimise resources and service efficiencies by reducing administration tasks that PWPs need to perform, which can prove costly in terms of time and already-stretched human resources.

PCMIS is an evidence-based Patient Case Management Information System pioneered by the University of York’s Mental Health Research Group, which is a leading multidisciplinary research group. It provides real-time information on patient outcomes, clinical supervision, psychological treatment regimes, clinical staff/patient contact activity levels and treatment plans. It is designed specifically for the management of high volume mental health caseloads through stepped care. With easy to interpret patient recovery graphs to quickly identify and alert for patient that are not on track in their treatment regime. This integrated evidence based research allows services to prioritise and target high risk patients, reducing dropout rates and improving patient outcomes - a significant factor helping services to improve recovery rates, efficiency and reducing operating costs.

This capability is unique to PCMIS and the only system in use nationally by services delivering NHS psychological therapies to use such advanced techniques. It is supported by a dedicated IT team, IAPT and mental health specialists within the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York. It is used by more than 12,000 healthcare professionals in the UK and Australia. It was chosen by the Department of Health to support the first IAPT Pathfinder sites as part of the first phase of a national rollout, geographically spread throughout England. For more information on PCMIS visit: www.pcmis.com
