HSE has partnered with SilverCloud® by Amwell® to enable you to support your patients with a 6-8 week online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) programme to help them manage their mental health. Accessible 24 hours a day, outside appointment hours.

What we do

We empower individuals to think and feel better, faster, through personalised, interactive programmes matched to the participants needs.  Individuals can access the SilverCloud® platform confidentially and in the privacy of an app on their mobile, tablet, or computer.

Our platform is clinically proven to be as effective as face-to-face therapy at a fraction of the cost with up to 80% of users showing improvement in anxiety and depression.

The platform can be used as a skill building tool to manage mental health and wellness, whilst awaiting your next therapy appointment, in conjunction with existing therapy sessions, or as a recovery toolkit post therapy.

  • The platform can be accessed immediately while your patient waits for an appointment with mental health professional, or outside appointment hours. It also provides tools they can utilise in-between therapy sessions. 

  • The SilverCloud programmes are free and easy to refer your patients.

SilverCloud® by Amwell® commissioned three art installations in Dublin, Cork & Galway to brighten forgotten spaces and act as a creative reminder to commuters and passers-by to care for their mind. 

SilverCloud® is a clinically proven digital mental health and wellbeing platform, providing digital Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) programmes and tools. It is available in the UK & Ireland free of charge with referral from GP's, Primary Care Psychologists, Counselling in Primary Care, and select health insurers, universities and sport clubs.

How to refer 

 

Send-referral

Referring Clinicians can securely send referrals via Healthmail, HealthLink, or eReferral (coming soon, Q3).
If referring by healthmail, then please email silvercloud@healthmail.ie using your HealthMail, @HSE.ie or @jigsaw.ie email address.
In all cases, you must include the patient or client's following details:

  • Their full name
  • Email address
  • Date of birth

Please also include the following in case of escalation:

  • GP name
  • GP email address

SilverCloud platform suitability

SilverCloud is suitable for patients who

  • Mild to moderate symptoms of anxiety and/or depression
  • Reduced energy
  • Little or no pleasure in doing things
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Excessive and/or consistent feelings of fear, worry or guilt
  • Panic attacks

SilverCloud is not suitable for patients who

  • Are under 18s
  • Are experiencing acute distress
  • Have a psychiatric diagnosis
  • Have had previous inpatient stays
  • Who have thoughts or plans to end their own life

There are 4 programmes available to your patients as part of the HSE partnership. All modules include elements of

  • CBT based Behavioural Activations
  • Cognitive Restructuring Techniques
  • Relaxation/Mindfulness.

The Anxiety programme consists of 8 modules that contain content, tools, and activities to help people alleviate their psychological distress arising from anxiety related symptomology. The programme has been developed to help users to manage their feelings and the causes of them, ultimately offering a welcome space from anxiety.

This programme consists of 10 modules that contains content, tools and activities to help people alleviate their psychological distress arising from depression and anxiety related symptomology. The programme aims to:

  • Increase activity and motivation in daily life

Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) Programme

The GAD programme consists of 8 modules that contain content, tools, and activities to help people relieve their symptoms of GAD by:

  • Focusing on developing more flexible ways of thinking.
  • Increasing awareness and understanding of emotions.
  • Increasing understanding of the role of worry in GAD.
  • Focusing on problem-solving strategies to cope more effectively with worry.
