Evidenced-based Programmes to Help Participants Assess their Relationship with Drug and Alcohol Use
The SilverCloud® by Amwell® platform is the leading global provider of digital behavioural and mental health solutions. Our programmes offer organisations a smart and measurable way to invest in the health and happiness of their people. Increase access to mental health support and lower the cost of care with a variety of clinically validated tools and techniques.

Drug Use Programme
In 2022 alone, it is estimated that over 3 million, or roughly 1 in 10 people, in the U.K. used a drug.
The Drug Use programme has been designed to help users self-identify an existing or potential drug use concern. Through this programme, users engaging in excessive, risky, or harmful drugs, will be encouraged to become more aware of their relationship with these drugs, learn the benefits of cutting back or quitting, and gain tools to reduce usage.
This programme was designed using Cognitive Behavourial Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) - in a confidential, judgment-free space.

Drug Use Programme Modules Include:
With CBT, participants will better understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and learn how to make positive changes - proven to reduce symptoms and better manage their mental health and wellbeing. Participants walk away with the tools to better manage their mental health now and in the future.

Alcohol Programme
In England, there are over 600,000 dependent drinkers and of those – 82% are not seeking treatment. The Alcohol programme encourages individuals to take a look at their relationship with alcohol, reflect on their drinking patterns, and determine if they want to reduce or eliminate alcohol using Motivational Enhancement Theory (MET) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques in a confidential, judgement-free space.
This online alcohol programme breaks down barriers for individuals who feel overwhelmed or uncomfortable taking the first step. Delivering a digital and on-demand programme allows individuals to access help whenever and wherever they want.

Supporting Positive Outcomes
We recommend that all clinical programmes are supported. You can choose to work with one of our expert supporters or we can train your organisation’s supporter team. Supporters personalise the programme experience for users so they are able to reach their goals by providing weekly encouragement and ongoing motivation.
Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET)
Motivational Enhancement Therapy focuses on improving an individual’s motivation to change with six basic steps called the FRAMES model:
-
Feedback: Deliver feedback on the risks and negative consequences of drug use.
-
Responsibility: Emphasise that the individual is responsible for making his or her own decision about his/her drug use.
-
Advice: Give straightforward advice on modifying drug use.
-
Menu of options: Give menus of options to choose from, fostering the participants involvement in decision-making.
-
Empathy: Be empathic, respectful, and non-judgmental.
-
Self-efficacy: Express optimism that the individual can modify his or her drug use if they choose. Self-efficacy is one’s ability to produce a desired result or effect.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
With CBT, participants will better understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and learn how to make positive changes - proven to reduce symptoms and better manage their mental health and wellbeing. Participants walk away with the tools to better manage their mental health now and in the future.
