Joining Digital Therapeutics Alliance | SilverCloud Health

Boston, MA-May 1, 2019SilverCloud Health, the global leader in digital therapeutics for mental, emotional, and behavioral health, today announced it has joined forces with the Digital Therapeutics Alliance (DTA). SilverCloud Health joins the DTA to align efforts to ensure advanced technology and best practices related to the design, clinical validation, usability, and data security of digital therapeutics. DTA is a trade association of industry leaders and stakeholders engaged in the evidence-driven advancement of digital therapeutics into mainstream healthcare, through education, advocacy and research.

According to PwC, one out of five adults in the U.S. experiences a mental illness, costing businesses more than $440 billion each year. SilverCloud’s digital mental health platform is based on over 16 years of clinical research with leading academic institutions, such as MIT, UPenn and Stanford, and has been deeply validated by global experts through randomized control trials as well as real world data from over 250,000 end users. The digital therapeutic is being used today by over 200 organizations globally.

“We are excited to join the Digital Therapeutics Alliance at such a pivotal time for the organization and the digital therapeutics space in general,” said Ken Cahill, CEO of SilverCloud Health. “In offering the leading clinically-validated mental health platform, with proven outcomes, SilverCloud Health is well aligned with the DTA goals. Specifically, our team looks forward to collaborating with our industry peers to leverage our experience empowering over 200 healthcare organizations offering easier, earlier and better access to mental health care. Our goal is to increase access to  truly high quality, evidence-based digital offerings for patients, healthcare providers, and payers.“

SilverCloud Health has been designed to meet the demands of the rapidly growing mental and behavioral healthcare market, offering a comprehensive library of 30+ customizable, evidenced-based, clinically-validated, online programs that address a broad spectrum of conditions such as stress, depression and anxiety, from mild to high severity.

In October 2018, the DTA released a comprehensive report that provides an overview and establishes a framework to the digital therapeutics industry. The report defines digital therapeutics as those products delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions to patients, driven by high quality software programs, to prevent, manage, or treat a medical disorder or disease. Digital therapeutics incorporate advanced technology best practices and are validated by regulatory bodies as required to support product claims regarding risk, efficacy, and intended use.

“We welcome SilverCloud Health as a member,” said Megan Coder, executive director, Digital Therapeutics Alliance. “As part of the DTA, SilverCloud Health will play an integral part of our global conversation about the development of the digital therapeutics industry.”
