Nearly a year into the COVID-19 pandemic, traditional therapy resources are still limited and unequipped to address the widespread feelings of enhanced stress, anxiety and depression across the population, given challenges with barriers to care and stigmas associated with seeking support for mental health disorders. Yet a time when the need for expanded mental health benefits and care is great, too many employees aren’t able to access appropriate mental health support and care.
SilverCloud Health commissioned a survey through a third-party research firm of 1,288 US employees’ examining their need for employer-sponsored mental health benefits, care and support. The survey data show that many employees are struggling with reduced productivity due to stress, anxiety, depression and fatigue related to the pandemic, and that employees’ mental health symptoms are going unaddressed and only becoming greater.
Key survey findings include:
- Heightened mental health challenges
- Reduced productivity levels
- Lack of access to mental health services
- Needed employer support
